The Master’s program in Horticultural Sciences, offered by the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Cluj-Napoca (USAMV Cluj), provides specialization opportunities for those passionate about horticulture as well as those interested in entrepreneurship in this field. Through its curriculum, based on promoting new concepts in horticultural technologies that are interconnected with the results of recent research in the field of Science and Technology, the Master’s Degree in Horticultural Sciences is emerging as a benchmark in the advanced professional training of specialists in the field of horticulture at national and international level. Main area of study
Students have the opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge based on the skills and abilities gained in theoretical and practical activities related to the production and marketing of horticultural products (fruit, wine, vegetables, and flowers) in different cultivation systems (conventional and organic, in the field and in protected areas), both by accessing compulsory courses: Technologies for the production of seeds and planting material for vegetable and flower species; Modern technologies for the production of fruit and vine planting material; Special (soilless) and organic technologies for growing vegetables and flowers; Conditioning, storage, and marketing of fruit, vine, vegetable, and flower products; Project management in horticulture; Information systems in horticulture; Floral art; Cultivated and wild mushrooms; Fruit and vine derivatives and by-products, as well as optional subjects: Flower conditioning and preservation and Floral art, included in the program curriculum.

Activities
Students are involved in practical activities, such as:
- Management of horticultural farms in the following sectors: vegetable growing, fruit growing, viticulture, and floriculture;
- Research and laboratory analysis at research institutes and universities in Romania and abroad in the fields of applied horticultural sciences, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology and biotechnology.

The final profile of the graduate of this master’s program is that of a future specialist capable of successfully developing entrepreneurial, scientific, and teaching careers, according to the following qualifications (COR):
- Research Engineer in Horticulture (COR 213246) – conducting applied and fundamental studies in Horticultural plant breeding and Horticultural technologies for controlled environment cultivation;
- Expert Horticultural Engineer (COR 213206) – providing technical expertise and innovation in Horticultural management to public institutions, in the field of horticultural production and/or research, at local and county administrations (town halls, APIA, DADR, DSV);
- Consultant Horticultural Engineer (COR 213205) – offering consultancy services both to private companies, public institutions in the field of horticultural production and/or research, as well as in fields related to horticulture – such as agri-food (processors, inspection-certification bodies), retail (supermarkets), agribusiness and NGOs, professional associations.
